In the frantic period before the 9th Pass, Southern Weyr was a desperate adventure to repopulate the Northern Weyrs before Threadfall began. No one had visited the south in over two centuries and the lush scenery that greeted visiting riders astounded them. In the 10th Pass, Southern Weyr grew to be one of the largest Weyrs on Pern. In the ensuing interval, technology flourished, and duties changed for many of the riders. After the devastation of Nemar's Disease just before the 11th Pass, the decimated, ravaged population turned to help from the past. The 10th Pass riders came forward to fight the old enemy together with their future and slowly, together they succeeding.
